CALMprojects the likely impacts on the target organization of changes in the environment induced by:
forces
events
and the proposed change management strategy.
CALM predicts the likely impact of the above, combining:
simulation techniques
complex adaptive systems (agents)
event modeling
system dynamics
Monte Carlo methods
Each environmental force specifies its assumed causal impact.
e.g. how a change in magnitude of bold new leadership, and increased competition
will affect organizational performance.
Each change initiative also specifies an assumed impact
e.g. communicating vision, empowering employees to carry out change tasks
will also affect performance.
CALM Transformation uses a process-based model.
This model has eight phases:
initiate change (define business case)
build a coalition of change agents
formulate vision
communicate and educate
empower others to act
create short-term wins
consolidate and further change
institutionalize change
Each of the above has finer-grained tasks, which have their own projected schedules and estimated costs.
